Rural Pharmacy Workforce Program

Rural Commissioned Projects

Development of a Model for a Mentoring System for Rural and Remote Newly Qualified Pharmacists

The Rural Commissioned Projects / Research Scheme is an initiative of the Rural Pharmacy Workforce Program (RPWP).  The RPWP was established in recognition of the key role pharmacists play in maintaining the health of all Australians, particularly in rural and remote Australia. The objectives of the RPWP are aimed at increasing access to pharmacy services in rural and remote areas and strengthening and supporting the rural and remote pharmacy workforce in Australia.

The Rural Commissioned Projects / Research Scheme is funded under the Fourth Community Pharmacy Agreement between The Pharmacy Guild of Australia and the Australian Government, as represented by the Department of Health and Ageing.

The objective of the Rural Commissioned Projects / Research Scheme is to promote the delivery of quality pharmacy services to rural and remote communities through projects and research which address determined areas of need.

The Pharmacy Guild of Australia is seeking tenders to undertake a project to examine a rural and remote mentoring system for pharmacy interns and young pharmacists. It will involve a literature review and development of a framework for a mentoring system.

Applicants will be required to address the project requirements detailed in the request for tender documentation.  Applications that do not comply with the guidelines will not be considered for funding.

Copies of the RFT can be obtained here

APPLICATIONS CLOSE at 5pm Monday 20th July 2009. Late applications, or applications submitted by fax will not be considered.
